Why I Started This Work…

I grew up in Oak Cliff, a lower socioeconomic area where I saw firsthand the transformative power of nonprofits in communities like mine. From an early age, the leaders in my family instilled in us the responsibility to help those we could—even if all we had to offer was a listening ear.

I vividly remember standing beside my grandmother, passing out turkeys to families during the holidays. As a young boy, I didn’t fully understand the significance of what we were doing, but I knew how much joy it brought me to connect with those families. I saw the smiles on the children’s faces, the relief in the parents’ eyes, and I watched as my family—no matter how tired they were—stayed committed to uplifting our community. Their hope was simple: If we take care of home first, that impact will ripple outward into the world.

As I grew into my own path, that deep-rooted desire to serve never left me. I have always been somewhere, helping someone. But in 2013, my perspective on nonprofit work changed forever—because this time, the need wasn’t around me, it was me.

At just six months old, my son had a seizure that changed the trajectory of both our lives. Suddenly, I wasn’t just someone who supported nonprofits—I was someone who needed them. As a single parent navigating the world of special needs resources for the first time, I saw nonprofits in a new way. I experienced firsthand what it feels like to have a safety net created by the generosity, structure, and leadership of organizations built to help people like me.

That moment ignited something different in me. I realized that nonprofits aren’t just about charity; they’re about sustainability, access, and empowerment. Since then, I have dedicated my career to ensuring that nonprofits don’t just exist—they flourish, scale, and sustain their impact long term.

After almost 15 years in the global corporate space, I’m bringing strategy, structure, and leadership development to organizations that are already doing great work but need the right foundation to amplify their impact.
